Send us a message
Use the form below or email support@vtpro.dev. For a bug, tell us what you expected, what happened instead, and the steps to reproduce it. Your app and macOS versions, selected speech model, and shortcut help us troubleshoot.
Start with the basics
Open the app from its menu-bar icon and choose Settings. Under Speech, select Phonon-2 for English or Whisper Turbo for other supported languages. Download the selected speech files if prompted and wait for Ready before dictating. Downloading and loading the model do not turn on the microphone.
Phonon-2 is a 164 MB compressed model download. The optional Whisper Turbo Q5_0 download is 574 MB. The app and extracted files require additional space. Model downloads need an internet connection; installed speech models can be used offline. If a download fails, check your connection and free disk space, then retry from Settings.
Microphone and permission controls
Check the app’s permission rows and follow the link for any missing access. You can review grants in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Also confirm that the intended microphone is selected and available. After changing access, reopen the app and try a short, non-sensitive phrase.
You can revoke access at any time in macOS. Microphone access is used for dictation; input-related access supports your chosen shortcut and live typing. Permission alone does not begin a dictation session.
Shortcuts and live typing
Click the text field you want to write in, then hold your selected shortcut and speak. Words appear directly in that field while you talk. Release the shortcut to finish. Double-tap to start or stop hands-free dictation. Globe/Fn, Right Option, and a custom chord are alternative choices in Settings. Closing Settings leaves the app available in the menu bar.
Escape stops recording; text already typed into another app can remain. Physical typing, clicking, or switching apps can stop live insertion. Some fields require copying the transcript yourself. Review text before sending it, and avoid dictating sensitive content into password or secure fields.
Privacy, accessibility, and legal questions
Speech recognition runs on your Mac. Please do not send us audio, transcripts, passwords, or other sensitive information in a support request. The form also covers accessibility feedback, feature requests, and privacy or legal questions.
